This was a large amount of white marshmallow fondant that I had to turn all the same color red. It took me a couple of HOURS to mix it all in while adding, adding, adding more and more red to get it the shade I needed. Was just a pain in the arse! LOL
i did the first coloring with the mixer - it turned out a pinkish red - I let it sit for at least 3 days and it was STILL a pink color. ARGH! So I softened the fondant and got out the red and went to kneading....it was crazy I ended up using about 2 and a half bottles of the Wilton Red - Seriously - it took that much to get that large amount to even begin to be the right color. I ALMOST said the hell with it and did red buttercream but in the end, it did turn out to be a pretty red :)
I honestly didn't think I would need that much either - I've colored red before but not this large amount.. I think I need to do some research cuz there has to be a better way to color fondant in LARGE batches LOL
They say when you are painting a wall Red you should use black as a primer and it'll bring out the Red much easier than white primer... I wonder if black food coloring first and then red would work. Red is a pain to make!
Pretty!!! What made the red such a PITA?
